“When Your Setback Is A Setup”

“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20, ESV).
Obedience to God will sometimes land you in an uncomfortable situation.
Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers and eventually became a servant in Potiphar’s house. Because Joseph was a man of integrity who feared God, he refused Mrs. Potiphar’s advances. She falsely accused him, and Joseph ended up in prison.
Although prison looked like the end of Joseph’s story, it was actually the beginning of a new chapter.
God was using Joseph’s difficult circumstances to position him for his future. While in prison, Joseph met Pharaoh’s chief cupbearer. When Pharaoh later needed someone to interpret his dreams, the cupbearer remembered Joseph. Pharaoh called Joseph out of prison and eventually elevated him to second in command in Egypt.
God used Joseph’s position to preserve his family and many others during the famine.
What looked like a setback was actually a divine setup.
So, if you are facing an adverse situation today—family disfunction, work drama, or even a challenge where you worship—don’t manipulate circumstances to make things work out your way.
Keep obeying God. Keep doing what is right. Keep treating people with respect. And keep trusting God.
You may not understand what He is doing right now, but remember: God can use your uncomfortable situation to position you for a greater purpose.
What feels like a setback today may actually be a divine setup for tomorrow.
Rest assured, it will all make sense after a while.
