“Trust God’s Plan”

By Dianne Prince

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV).

A ministry associate shared with me that his Christian counseling contract with a major hospital was ending due to the company’s financial constraints. He said, “I know God has something better, but He doesn’t reveal His plans to me. He doesn’t tell me how He’ll provide for me or the workers I have to lay off, and He won’t tell me when or through whom He’ll do it.” He added, “I know God is up to something big, but it’s nerve-racking not knowing what it is.” With conviction, he concluded, “Experience tells me God will come through in His time.”

Though he longed to know what would happen, my associate was wise enough to stand still and rely on God to bring him through, just as He had many times before.

He clung to the scripture, “Faith without works is dead,” and made the deliberate choice to act on it. After the contract ended, he kept to his routine, getting up every morning as if he had a job. For several months, his “job” was looking for a job. In God’s time, his business was restored—stronger, bigger, and more impactful than before.

In our scripture this morning, the Psalmist reminds us to trust God during rough times. Why? Because God controls every part of our journey. He’s in control when we’re caught off guard and speechless. He’s in control when we’re under pressure. And He’s in control when we struggle to make sense of unexpected news.

Be reminded today that every rough road has an end. So, dig in and do your part. Keep moving, holding on, knocking, believing, praying, and trusting. God is aware of your struggles. As you surrender control to Him by faith, He will prove Himself again and again. Unwavering faith and steadfast effort will lead you to the end of your rough road.
