“The Power of Early Morning Communion”

By Dianne Prince

“O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1, NIV).

The Psalmist encourages us to seek God early, acknowledging Him as the ruler of the universe and the controller of all people, circumstances, and things. If we do not seek God in the morning, we will go through the day with an emptiness that only the Word of God can fill. When we fail to put God first, everything we encounter drains us instead of filling us. Being in God’s presence is the only thing that encourages us and gives us the spiritual strength needed to meet the day head-on.

Here is your reminder for today: a vibrant relationship with Christ requires spending time with Him. There is something refreshing about seeking God early in the morning. When you begin your day in communion with God, the entire day goes more smoothly. You are not as tired when the alarm goes off at 6 A.M. The coffee tastes better. The air smells fresher. People around you seem more pleasant. Daily challenges do not impact you negatively. The bumps and lumps you encounter during a normal day are not so bumpy and lumpy. The problems that weighed you down yesterday seem much lighter when you make talking with God your first order of the day.

Today, make a deliberate effort to seek God throughout the day. Regular conversations with Him maintain an atmosphere of peace. Frequent praise draws us closer to Him. Consistent prayer allows us to reap the rewards of keeping company with Him.
