“Strength for Today, Not Tomorrow”
By Dianne Prince
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
God never asks you to carry tomorrow with today’s strength. He meets you in the present moment and supplies exactly what is needed for right now. Waiting on the Lord is not inactivity or passivity. It is a deliberate posture of trust that declares, “God is already at work, even when I cannot see it.”
Scripture gives us a clear picture of this truth in the story of the Israelites in the wilderness. Each morning, God provided manna from heaven, but only enough for that day. When some tried to store it for the next day, it spoiled. God was teaching them how to depend on Him. He was showing them that His provision is daily, faithful, and sufficient. Yesterday’s manna could not sustain today’s journey.
Some of us feel exhausted because we are attempting to solve future problems with present strength. God renews our strength when we release what we cannot control and trust Him with what lies ahead. Strength does not always arrive with dramatic emotion. Sometimes it comes quietly, as peace replaces anxiety or direction replaces confusion.
God knows when you are weary, and He is not disappointed when you pause to rest. Today, focus on what is directly in front of you. Obey God in the small step He is asking of you now. When tomorrow comes, fresh strength will come with it.
God’s grace is always sufficient for the present and it is never delayed.
