“Strength That Keeps Rising”
By Dianne Prince
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)
We have known weariness. We have known waiting. Yet we have also known renewal. Again and again, when circumstances tried to press us down, God lifted us higher. When doors closed, He sustained us in the hallway. When strength felt gone, He breathed it back into us.
Today’s scripture reminds us that though there are pressures that weigh upon our outward life, there is a quiet miracle happening within. The inward person is being renewed day by day. That renewal is steady. It is faithful. It is the unseen work of a faithful God who restores our courage, rebuilds our hope, and strengthens our resolve.
For us as African Americans, waiting on the Lord has never meant standing still in defeat. It has meant standing firm in expectation. It is the quiet confidence that God is working beyond what is happening around us.
I am reminded of the brilliance of Katherine Johnson, whose calculations helped send astronauts into orbit and the bold vision of Madam C. J. Walker, who built business opportunity where none was offered. Their lives testify to a strength that cannot be denied — a strength that rises again and again, a strength that is renewed by faith and a strength that is sharpened by perseverance.
Your reminder for today is this: when we feel tired from carrying responsibility, from navigating injustice, or from building legacy, God whispers, “Renewal is coming.” The eagle does not struggle against the wind; it rises on it.
Today, lift your eyes. Your strength is not dependent on your circumstances. It is anchored in the everlasting God. And He renews you day by day, so you will rise stronger, steadier, and wiser.
