“God Is for Me”
By Dianne Prince
“You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book? When I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back; this I know, because God is for me” (Psalm 56:8-9, NKJV)!
From the moment we get up, the war with the enemy “is on”—from small and insignificant incidents to large and overwhelming challenges. There is always a challenge to deal with, a situation to confront, a test with which to wrestle, or a trial with which to contend. All day, every day, the enemy is out to make our lives miserable.
Our scripture this morning reminds us why we can trust God. Why can we trust God with whatever comes from the insignificant to the most overwhelming challenges? We can trust God because He has inventory on us, on our encounters, our interactions, and our affairs. God sees our struggles. He sees our challenges. And He sees our sleepless nights. God sees us tussle with chronic pain. He sees our concern about that negative doctor’s report. And He sees our frowns from helplessly watching that disobedient child. He sees our patience as we wait for Him to deliver us from some things and to some other things. And God sees our concern that a medical condition may return.
The Psalmist reassures us that God sees. He knows. He keeps a record of our struggles, our insecurities and our concerns and He holds them in His hand. God is with us and God is for us. Whatever you face today, call on God. And when we call Him, He will answer, and the tide of battle turns. Call on Him and patiently declare, “In God I trust and am not afraid” (Psalm 56:11, NIV).
