“The Best Is Yet to Come”
By Dianne Prince
“For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience” (Romans 8:24–25).
Today’s scripture encourages those who are waiting for God to move. It speaks to those who have been praying for family members and loved ones—to live differently, to take life more seriously, to be wiser in their daily choices, or to bring their lives into alignment with the Word of God.
God has a plan for each of us. That is not new news. What we sometimes forget is that God also has a plan for our family members and for those in our circle of friends who may be living on the edge or who have lost their way. Too often we become stuck on who people are right now—where they are and what they are doing. And in doing so, we fail to see who they can become.
Our scripture reminds us that there is hope for those who are not on the right path today—and it is a hope we cannot yet see. Those who wait patiently will be blessed and will witness the hand of God move in unexpected and powerful ways.
There is hope for the daughter or granddaughter who cannot hold a job. There is hope for the spouse who seems to have lost interest in the marriage, and for the child or grandchild who struggles at school. There is hope for the family member who desires work but cannot find it. There is hope for the person you have been praying for to be saved, for the sickness that lingers, and even for the financial struggles that seem to follow you year after year.
For every loved one who is not living up to their potential, for every hardship that does not seem to improve, and for every burden weighing heavy on your heart—remember that there is always a before and an after.
So today, do not give up on what you are believing God to deliver you from, and do not give up on what you are believing God to deliver you to. Instead, wait patiently and confidently, knowing that the best is yet to come. Why wait? Because as long as there is life, there is hope. And those who patiently wait for God to move will reap great rewards.
“For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience” (Romans 8:24–25).
