“Jesus Rules”

“By what authority are You doing these things?” (Matthew 21:23, NKJV)

On Tuesday of Holy Week, Jesus was challenged by religious leaders who questioned His authority. They saw His works, heard His teaching, and witnessed His influence, yet they resisted surrender. Their question was not rooted in their curiosity but in their need for control.

Today, the same question echoes in our lives. Not with words, but through decisions: Who truly has authority over our thoughts, actions, and priorities? It is possible to believe in Jesus, study His words, and still resist yielding full authority to Him.

Jesus did not conform to their expectations, and He will not conform to ours. He calls us to trust, obey, and follow even when His ways challenge our preferences. Authority means surrender and surrender often feels uncomfortable.

The question is not whether Jesus has authority—it is whether we will walk in it. Every choice we make either resists His authority or embraces His rule in our lives. So today, do not just talk about His rulership. Surrender to Him. Because true surrender is not found in being in control, but in submitting to the authority of the One who was, is, and always will be.

Jesus rules.
