“When Medicine Meets Faith”
By Dianne Prince
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9, NIV).
In today’s scripture, Asa is the king of Judah. He suffered from severe pain in his feet, yet in his illness, he did not seek the Lord but relied solely on the physicians. The Bible indicates that Asa died because he lacked trust in God and placed complete trust in the physicians. The truth is, God was working through the physicians to heal him.
It is important to follow our doctors’ counsel and take the medicines they prescribe, recognizing that it is God who places the right physician in our path to make the correct diagnosis, prescribe the right medicines, and nurture us back to health.
God uses doctors’ hands and minds to heal us. Doctors are smart and wise because of God’s favor and guiding hand.
We must always acknowledge God as the source of our help and deliverance. Everything we need originates with God. He uses people to deliver it to us, but He is the source of all things we need in our lives. When we trust God with our most difficult needs, He sees our faith. When we rely on God instead of ourselves or another human being for deliverance, God responds to our faith.
The reminder for today is this: People have no power to help us unless it is given by Almighty God. Release those things you cannot control to God and trust Him to handle them. Trust God to make a miraculous move when man has run out of options. Trust Him to save a lost person who seems hopeless. Trust Him to restore your relationship when it has taken a turn for the worse. Trust Him to remove the addiction from a loved one who has struggled for years. Trust Him to bring you success after failures and to provide answers to difficult decisions. Why? Because God is always looking to rescue those who seek Him first. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward Him.
