“Embracing God’s Call”

By Dianne Prince

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24, NKJV).

God has specific work for each of us. The work differs for each person, and it depends on the void in the earth that God assigned to us to fill.

Today’s scripture reminds us to step out of our comfort zone, if we have not already done so, and to step up to the call God has on our lives – no matter how large or small. The Word of encouragement we speak to a young mother who is on the brink of a breakdown is just as important to God as the message spoken to the masses on Sunday morning. That reassuring smile we offer to a perfect stranger goes a long way to change the course of his or her day. That text or phone call we make exactly to say, “I was thinking about you and decided to check in” may be exactly what the person on the other end needed to keep going.

When we have a thought to reach out to someone, a passion to help in a certain area, or a burden in our spirits to do something about a certain moral, social, or economic problem, that is God quietly nudging us to take action. We are not to dismiss it as merely a thought, but to recognize it as God quietly prompting us to take action.

Whatever God places in your heart to do to help someone else today, step out in faith and do it to the best of your ability. Whoever God places on your mind to reach out to today, stop what you are doing and reach out to them.

You were made to do good works. Step up to your assignment God has for you today. As the Nike TV commercial says, “Just do it.” People will be blessed, and God will be pleased.

Remember Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (ESV).
