“Raise the Banner Before the Breakthrough”

By Dianne Prince

“We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.” — Psalm 20:5 (NKJV)

Psalm 20 speaks with calm confidence before the outcome is visible. This is not a celebration after the battle is finished. It is a declaration made while the tension is still present. The psalmist does not point to strength, strategy, or preparation, but gently redirects our attention to the Lord as the true source of our deliverance and victory.

To rejoice in victory is to choose joy before the answer to our prayers arrives. The banners mentioned in this verse were usually raised after triumph, yet here they are lifted ahead of time. Faith gives us permission to praise God while the questions remain. It reflects a deep trust that God hears, God responds, and God works according to His timetable.

Rather than stepping into the day with worry or self-dependence, we are encouraged to begin with prayer and confidence in the name of Jesus. Our plans are important, but they find their strength when placed in the hands of the One who directs every outcome.

Today’s scripture reassures us that God cares about our petitions. When our prayers are aligned with His will, none of them are overlooked or wasted.

Before you begin your tasks for the day, take a moment to intentionally thank God for the answer to a prayer that has not yet been fulfilled, and fully trust the outcome to Him.

Faith raises the banner before the victory is seen.
