“Faith that Restores”

By Dianne Prince

“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction” (Mark 5:34, (NKJV).

The woman afflicted with the issue of blood was well-known to everyone, her life a living nightmare. For twelve exhausting years, she had grappled with a chronic bleeding disorder for which there seemed no cure. She had sought out every doctor promising hope, spent all her savings, prayed fervently every day, and patiently awaited relief from the Lord. Despite her efforts, her condition only worsened.

In today’s scripture, the woman heard Jesus passing by amidst a multitude of people. Determined, she pressed through the crowd, moving steadily toward him despite the masses blocking her path. Though unable to reach Jesus due to the crowd’s density, she possessed unwavering faith that merely touching the hem of his garment would bring healing. When she did so, Jesus felt power emanate from Him and declared, “Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace.”

Each day, we encounter extraordinary challenges, facing obstacles on every side. Often, we lack the means, influence, or connections to forge a path forward. Yet, sometimes all it takes is the determination to try again, the resolve to pray anew, and simply enough faith to call upon Jesus once more.

In the face of life’s trials, let us draw inspiration from the unwavering faith of the woman with the issue of blood. She approached Jesus broken, but she departed whole. Like her, may we continue to reach out to Jesus, trusting that he will meet us with healing and grace. As we persevere with faith, may we find strength to overcome our challenges and discover the peace that comes from knowing that the Lord is always with us, making a way even when it seems impossible. Let us hold fast to hope, for with God, all things are possible.
