“For the Time Being”
By Dianne Prince
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49, KJV).
In our scripture this morning, Jesus has been crucified. He has been buried. He has arisen from the grave. On his way to heaven, He appears to the disciples and He instructs them not to move forward until they are empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The time between the promise of the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of His arrival is called “for the time being.” “For the time being” is when you are waiting in anticipation for an event to come to pass. It is when you are waiting for a promise to be fulfilled, for a package to be delivered, or for an income tax refund. “For the time being” is when you are waiting for long awaited good news.
Take advantage of your “for the time being.” It is not meant to be a time of idleness, a time of spiritual inactivity, nor is it intended to be a time of dormancy. “For the time being” is a time of personal and corporate worship. It is a time of continuous individual and collective praise. And it is intended to be a time to bless God for who He is, for His unlimited power, for His infinite knowledge, for His many promises, for His protective hand and for His imminent return.
While you wait on God, “for the time being,” study, pray, link up with others who are like-minded and build up each other.
