“A Heart Check”
By Dianne Prince
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins” (Mark 11:25, NIV).
Right after speaking about mountain-moving faith, Jesus shifts the focus to forgiveness. It is a gentle yet firm reminder that while faith is powerful, the condition of our hearts matters just as much. Unforgiveness can weigh us down, hinder our prayers, and poison our peace.
Forgiving others is not a suggestion. It is a command. And let us be honest, it is not always easy. Forgiving someone who has deeply hurt us can feel like letting them off the hook. But forgiveness is not about the other person. It is about our freedom. It releases us from the grip of bitterness and opens our hearts to receive all that God has for us.
Today’s scripture calls us to examine ourselves. God has shown us extraordinary mercy. In return, we are called to reflect that same mercy. When we forgive, we are not just obeying God. We are reflecting the very heart of God.
Your reminder for today is this: if there is someone you need to forgive, ask God for the grace to do so, just as Christ forgave you. Then, take time to release them in prayer—and keep praying until your heart is light and your spirit is free.
Today, choose freedom. Choose grace. And trust that as you release others, God is doing a healing work in you.
