“Gap Standers”
By Dianne Prince
“I [God] searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30, NIV).
In our scripture this morning, corruption was everywhere. Social injustice was out of control. Many of the prophets and leaders had corrupted their followers, using their power for material gain. Corruption was so rampant that when God looked for a man who could stem the tide, none could be found. Not one. Yet He was looking for just one person. God desired someone who would stand in the gap for the land.
Today, every one of us is a gap stander—praying for those who need to be uplifted and praying even for those who are not aware they need prayer.
We may not see the fruit of some of our prayers yet, but be encouraged today that God hears us and He honors our faithfulness to Him. Know that when we stand in the gap, unified and in one accord, our prayers are destroying the enemy’s plans of destruction. Our prayers are breaking down barriers that stand between us and the blessings of God. Our prayers are holding back the destruction the enemy has placed in the paths of our loved ones. Our prayers are even bringing healing to those who are sick.
When we stand in the gap, salvation miraculously comes to family members who have been living recklessly as a way of life. Backslidden spouses, sons, and daughters are restored to fellowship with the body of Christ. Decency begins to return to society.
Let us continue sending up prayers for our families, our communities, our nation, and our society. Because of our prayers, lives are being changed. People are being delivered. Circumstances are being resolved. Hearts are being encouraged. God sees us, and He hears our prayers.
