“The God Who Rules All”
By Dianne Prince
“And [Jehoshaphat] said: ‘O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?'” — 2 Chronicles 20:6 (NKJV)
In today’s scripture, King Jehoshaphat faced an impossible situation. Vast armies were advancing against Judah, and fear spread throughout the land. Instead of depending upon military strength or human strategy, the king gathered the people to seek the Lord. Before asking God to act, Jehoshaphat declared who God is. He acknowledged that the Lord reigns over heaven and earth, that all power belongs to Him, and that no enemy can stand against His mighty hand.
Life often presents circumstances that seem larger than our faith. We are sometimes presented with facts that cannot be reversed. We sometimes experience events that appear to have sealed our fate. Financial pressure, difficult relationships, unexpected diagnoses, or uncertain futures can tempt us to focus on the size of our problem instead of the greatness of our God. Yet the same God who ruled over the nations in Jehoshaphat’s day still rules today. His authority has not diminished, and His promises remain faithful.
Imagine receiving unexpected expenses while your income seems uncertain. Anxiety immediately begins to grow. Instead of allowing fear to take control, pause and remind yourself that God still holds every detail of your life in His hands. He is still writing your story. Pray first, trust His wisdom, and then move forward in obedience, believing He will direct your steps.
When you remember that no one or nothing is able to withstand the power of God, fear begins to lose its voice and faith begins to rise.
God’s power is greater than your problem.
