It Came to Pass

By Dianne Prince

“And it came to pass the day after…And he [Jesus] said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he [Jesus] delivered him to his mother” (Luke 7:11, 14–15, KJV).

The scripture today says, “It came to pass.” It came. What came? Problems came. Spiritual warfare came. Health problems came. Marital problems came. Church problems came. Job loss came. Family problems came. Misery came. All sorts of problems came.

“It” came. There was nothing you could do to stop it. It hurt. It cut so deep that you cried. It was heavy. It was painful. It was so overwhelming that you worried, because it was the last thing you wanted to face.

Yes, “it” came. But it came for a reason. It came for a season. And it came for an appointed time. It did not simply appear without purpose. It came because God allowed it. The Bible says that when the problem came, it came to pass. And when the problem came, Jesus came also. And when Jesus came, the problem passed.

In our scripture this morning, the widow’s son was dead one moment, and alive the next. What happened? Just one word from Jesus—and the young man sat up, began to speak, and was restored to his mother.

Problems will come. But when you trust that God knows what He is doing, He will give you peace in the middle of them. And after your problems have served their divine purpose, they will pass as quickly as they came. We serve a God who can take us from sadness to gladness in an instant. The God we serve can move us from darkness to light, from silence to laughter, and from despair to hope in a moment’s time.

Here is what you need to hold onto today: Problems may come, but they cannot stay. They must bow to the presence of Jesus. When He shows up, He brings joy, peace, restoration, and life. And no matter how dark your situation seems, when Jesus comes, your problem has no choice but to pass.
