“Patience is Power”
By Dianne Prince
“He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly.” — Proverbs 14:29 (NKJV)
Patience has always been a quiet kind of power. It does not shout, yet it shapes history. It does not rush, yet it endures. In every season of trial and triumph, patience has carried us—steady, prayerful, and unmovable.
Today’s scripture reminds us that understanding walks hand in hand with restraint. Patience is not weakness. It is disciplined strength. It is the courage to trust God when justice feels delayed and promises seem distant. It is the faith to believe that what God has spoken over our lives will come to pass in His perfect time.
As we celebrate Black History Month, we remember the enduring faith of those who came before us. Leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Harriet Tubman moved with conviction, yet they understood the power of waiting on God. Their lives testified that patience is not passive—it presses forward with hope, even when the road is long.
We, too, are called to carry on that legacy. In moments of misunderstanding, we do not answer with retaliation— we answer with wisdom. In seasons of delay, we do not give up —we anchor ourselves in prayer. In times of frustration, we do not come up with answers on our own —we remember that God is never hurried, yet He is never late.
Our patience reflects our trust in God. Our understanding reflects the love of God. And when we are rooted in Him, we stand strong against all odds. We walk by faith when we cannot see the end. And we keep hope alive, expecting a better day.
