Pray for Your Enemies

By Dianne Prince

“Repay no one evil for evil. Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.” (Romans 12:17, 19 NKJV)

When we set our hearts on living right, the enemy and his forces work overtime to disturb our peace, weaken our faith, and drain our hope. He often uses people—family, friends, co-workers, or even strangers—to discredit us, oppose us, and disrupt our day. At times, it comes through tension at home, conflicts on the job, or unexpected problems that suddenly invade our lives.

These attacks are meant to distract us from God’s purpose and keep us consumed with chaos instead of focused on His plan.

Scripture tells us to pray for our enemies. In the flesh, our first reaction may be to ask God to remove them, silence them, or even destroy them. But God’s Word is clear: “Pray for those who spitefully use you.” What should we pray? Pray for God to bless them abundantly. Pray that He meets their every need. Pray for their heart’s desires to be fulfilled. And pray for the grace to extend love, even when they do not deserve it.

This is your reminder today: praying for your enemies is a spiritual weapon. It shifts your focus from revenge to obedience. It allows God to step in and set things right.

Your job is to pray and walk in love. God’s job is to fight your battles. His promise still stands:, “The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm” (Exodus 14:14, NLT). And again, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, saith the Lord” (Romans 12:19, KJV).

Stand firm. Keep praying. God will never let you down.
