Stay Near

“Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” — Psalm 51:11 (NKJV)
David knew what it was like to feel the crushing weight of failure. After a season of sin, deceit, and brokenness, he did not beg for his throne or riches—he pleaded for God’s presence. In his darkest hour, David realized that separation from God was the greatest loss of all.
Think of the young mother who snapped at her children after a long, stressful day. Later that night, overwhelmed by guilt, she slipped into her room and cried. She did not pray for a better schedule or fewer responsibilities—she prayed for God’s presence. She whispered, “Lord, please don’t leave me. I need You here.”
You have likely had your own moments—when choices, circumstances, or shame made God feel far away. Yet today’s scripture reminds us that even in failure, we are not beyond God’s mercy. David’s cry shows us a heart that still longed for closeness with the Lord. And that longing is the beginning of restoration.
God is not looking for perfection. He is looking for a heart that turns back to Him. His Spirit is not withdrawn from the one who repents but drawn to the humble and brokenhearted.
Today, do not run from God—run to Him. Whether you have had a hard day, a rough season, or a painful fall, He is near. He is ready to restore what has been lost and renew what has grown cold. His presence is your hope, your peace, and your strength. Ask Him to draw near—and He will.
