“Strength for Today

By Dianne Prince

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1 (NKJV)

Life often demands more strength than we feel we possess. Responsibilities pile up, expectations press in, and uncertainty can quietly drain our endurance. Today’s scripture reminds us that strength is not something we must manufacture. It is something God provides. He is not distant in our difficulty. He is very present.

Think about how we instinctively seek shelter during a storm. We do not argue with the weather or attempt to endure it unprotected. We look for refuge. When problems arise, God invites us to do the same. Prayer becomes our shelter. Trust becomes our rest. And God’s presence becomes the place where fear loses its authority and peace settles in.

Many of us exhaust ourselves by preparing for tomorrow while neglecting today. Yet God consistently supplies the strength we need one day at a time. Just as manna fell daily, strength arrives when it is needed. Worrying about future challenges often steals the grace intended for the present moment.

When you pause to acknowledge God as your refuge, your perspective shifts. Your circumstances may remain, but they no longer define your capacity to endure. God does. His strength steadies your heart, renews your courage, and restores your hope.

Rather than asking for strength to endure everything at once, ask for strength for today and today alone. God remains faithful to meet that request. His presence never fails, and His help is always right on time.

God does not give strength for every tomorrow at once, but He always gives enough strength for today.
