“Hope for the Wandering”

By Dianne Prince

“Anyone who is among the living has hope” (Ecclesiastes 9:4, NIV).

Today’s scripture reminds me of Moses, who killed an Egyptian and buried him in the sand. This poor decision led him to a foreign land where he tended sheep for forty years. During that time, he learned patience, endurance, and humility—qualities essential for his future ministry.

In our families, some have made poor choices, and we may feel their futures are ruined, with no hope for change. Others live recklessly, seemingly resistant to our influence.

However, today’s scripture encourages us not to give up on seeking a better life for our loved ones. We must continue sharing the path to a righteous life, and if they won’t listen, we must entrust them to God and find peace. God’s work begins where our influence ends, and He excels in transforming minds and hearts.

Like Moses, God allows our loved ones to wander and make mistakes, knowing His guiding hand is still with them. He imparts valuable life lessons, preparing them for future assignments.

Our duty is to keep praying for unsaved family members, nieces, nephews, godchildren, backslidden daughters, and strong-willed sons. We must pray for grandsons in unhealthy relationships and granddaughters who’ve distanced themselves from their families. Today might be the day the Holy Spirit touches their hearts, leading to transformation.

Remember, God offers countless chances to make things right and never gives up on us. Let us not give up on those who’ve made unwise choices or live irresponsibly, especially those close to us, because “as long as there is life, there is hope.”
