“Don’t Stop”
By Dianne Prince
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you” (Isaiah 43:2, NLT).
In today’s scripture, God’s children find themselves in captivity. Despite chastising them for their sins, God promises eventual restoration to their rightful position. Amid uncomfortable and uncertain times, God reassures them not to fear. Why? Because God, their creator, cares for and sustains everything He created.
The good news for us today lies in our covenant relationship with God. He knows each of us by name. As we belong to God, there are limits on how far the enemy can go in affecting our minds, spirits, and possessions.
Life brings rising rivers, floods, and ascending waters. Some of us may currently be in high water, struggling to keep our heads above. Know that God is in control of the rising waters; they cannot move without His command. Our task is to swim until we reach the shore.
In the midst of raging waters, God will sustain us, our possessions, and everything concerning us. Though we may get wet, tossed around, or lose some goods, God will keep us above the waters and prevent us from drowning.
Hold onto this thought: when high waters close in, keep swimming. As you swim, God will, in due time, gather up everything lost—joy, peace, health, money, and more. As the scripture promises, “When you go through deep waters, God will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you” (Isaiah 43:2, NLT).
