“Words Become Seeds”

By Dianne Prince

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”—Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)

Words hold incredible power. With a single sentence, we can uplift a weary heart—or add weight to an already heavy load. Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 4:29 to be intentional with our speech. God calls us to speak words that build, not break; words that bless, not burden.

What we say does not just affect others—it affects us. Our words determine our destiny, the outcome of our circumstances. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and every phrase we release has the potential to move us—and those around us—closer to God’s best or further from it.

In a world overflowing with criticism, sarcasm, and division, your voice can be a refreshing stream of inspiration. Whether you are comforting a friend, speaking to a stranger, or correcting a loved one, choose words that help, not harm. God’s words never tear down aimlessly—they restore, heal, and empower.

We do not always realize the ripple effect of our speech. A word of encouragement might be the spark someone needs to keep going. A simple affirmation could remind someone of their worth. Let your mouth be a vessel of grace today. Speak life where there is discouragement, and peace where there is tension.

Words become seeds. What you say will take root, sprout and grow. Before you speak, ask yourself: Will this help, heal, or bring hope? Then speak with confidence, knowing your words carry the power to shape hearts, change minds, and influence destinies.
